How do you train the caregivers? What are the requirements to be on your team?
As enforced by the state of CA, caregivers need to be placed on the Home Care Aide registry, meet the requirements of AB 1217, and complete a minimum of three hours of entry-level training prior to presence with a client, as follows:
- Three hours of entry level training which should consist of:
- Safety training, including basic safety precautions
- Emergency procedures
- Infection control.
- Provide a negative Tuberculosis test and are required to provide ongoing TB clearance at least once every 2 years. As a Home Care Organization, DG Comfort Home Care keeps a copy on file of the TB clearance. The examination is a condition of initial and continuing employment.
- As Home Care Aides, caregivers are mandated reporters and sign SOC 341A which is a signed statement acknowledging requirement to report suspected abuse of dependent adults or elders.
- Caregivers also must submit an application (HCS 100) for HCA registration to HCSB with the application fee and the signed criminal record statement (LIC 508)
- Caregivers need to submit fingerprints for Live-Scan clearance (LIC 9163) along with fees for Live-Scan
In addition to the entry level training requirements you the HCA shall complete a minimum of five hours of annual training. The annual training shall relate to core competencies and be population specific, which shall include, but not be limited to, the following areas:
- Clients’ rights and safety
- How to provide for, and respond to, a client’s daily living needs

How do you decide which caregiver will be assigned to my loved one?
We assign caregivers based on their availability and location. We determine how close or far the caregiver lives to your love one’s home. Additionally we determine if a caregiver is especially knowledgeable in the care that is needed for your loved one
Do you have caregivers available for Live-In or only per hour?
Yes we provide Live-In caregiving as well as per hour. Note: Live-In rates are billed differently from our hourly rates. Please contact us for additional details

Do you have medical nurses available?
Yes! Although we are a non-medical caregiving service at DG Comfort Home Care, we do have access to nurses through our partners such as Golden Gate Hospice. Golden Gate Hospice has a great team of highly skilled medical staff for your medical care needs.
Do you accept medical insurance such as Medi-Cal or Medicare?
Medical insurances do not often recognize caregiving as medically necessary so unfortunately we cannot accept insurances such as Medi-Cal or Medicare for non-medical care needs at this time.
However, we are thrilled to be partnered up with hospices such as Golden Gate Hospice that do provide medical services free of charge. Services such as medical equipment, physical therapy, podiatrists, skilled nurses, and more can be provided to you at no cost!
